Q1. Are SaniCaps® effective against HIV, Hepatitis
B and MRSA?
Yes, each SaniCap™ contains 0.6 ml, an EPA registered formula that kills HIV (AIDS virus), HBV (hepatitis B), and MRSA.
Q2. Can I use alcohol to disinfect my needles?
No, according to OSHA and the CDC, alcohol is not effective against hepatitis and other virulent pathogens.
Q3. We haven’t had any known infections so far, so why should we use SaniCaps®?
No one, not even the manufacturers of tag guns, disputes the fact that tag gun needle sticks can transmit life threatening and
potentially fatal infections. Not using a SaniCap™ is a “pointless” and unnecessary gamble in a time when drug-resistant strains of bacteria

Q5. What are the three critical areas
that must be disinfected?
The three critical areas are: (1) The outside of the needle, (2)
the inside of the hollow needle, and (3) the internal metal rod that moves back and forth contacting the inside of the
needle as the gun is fired. Any infectious material on this rod will contaminate the needle. Failure to disinfect any
one of these three areas nullifies the entire disinfection process.

Yes. According to OSHA the use of tagging guns can result in a worker sustaining a needle stick with a contaminated needle.
Thus, the risk of exposure to potentially infectious materials can be reasonably anticipated.

Q10. If I assign guns to specific users do I still need to use SaniCaps®?
Although restricting a gun’s use to a single person does reduce the risk of bloodborne transmission; it does not totally eliminate the risk of dangerous infections. Apparel is porous and can retain microscopic infectious pathogens. A hollow tagging gun needle can contact and transfer those microscopic pathogens to a tagging gun user when they are stuck.
SaniCaps® eliminate that risk by eliminating all the infectious material on the needle.
Remember, many people have handled the apparel items you are tagging as they go from manufacturing to distribution to point of sale. Q11. How often should we use SaniCaps®?
A SaniCap™ should be used every time a tagging gun needle stick occurs to eliminate the risk of infection.
Additionally, SaniCaps® should be used frequently to negate surface bacteria build up.

Each SaniCap™ is individually sealed for sterility and maximum effectiveness and
are available in three packages:
SaniCap™ 1000 (item #150) contains 1,000 SaniCaps® in a 15”
x 10” x 5” (6 lbs.) box and includes illustrated
instructions in English/Spanish. The #150 is used in
manufacturing and/or distribution centers.
SaniCap™ 100 (item #175) contains 100 SaniCaps® in a small box measuring 4.5” x 3.25” x 4.5”.
Each box is printed with “Use to Disinfect Tagging Guns” and illustrated Directions in English/Spanish.
